About

The Dr Murty N Hari Science & Technology Fellowship has been established by Vijaya Hari and family in memory of the late Dr Murty N Hari (BE, IISc’s Department of Metallurgy, 1961) to support highly talented students pursuing a Master’s degree and careers in science and technology in the Chemical Sciences program at IISc. The Hari family has also extended their support to IISc’s new BTech programmes.

Eligibility

  • Awarded on merit students joining the Masters program in
    Chemical Sciences.

Entitlements

  • Monthly stipend of INR 7000 and reimbursement of the academic fees

Dr Murthy Hari

Dr Murty N Hari was born in Vemavaram village in Guntur District, India. He completed his BE in Metallurgical Science at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He earned an MS in Chemical Sciences from the University of Cincinnati in 1963 and a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1966. Dr Hari went on to a distinguished career in metallurgical engineering, holding numerous patents and earning wide recognition for his innovations. In 1987, he founded Superior Adsorbents Incorporated, a company specializing in activated carbon technology, based in Emlenton, PA. His lifetime of contributions to the field was recognized in 2011 when he was inducted into the International Activated Carbon Industry Hall of Fame.
