About
Shri HR Ravindranath and Smt Girija Ravindranath, in celebration of their 44th wedding anniversary, have set up the Late HK Ramachandra Rao and late Smt Mahalakshmamma endowment in memory of HR Ravindranath’s parents. This will provide partial fee support award for a II year woman student in MSc Chemical Sciences.
Eligibility
- The award will be given annually to one financially deserving woman student with the highest CGPA in the second year MSc pursuing Chemistry at IISc, who is not getting any other financial support from ODAA/IISc.
Entitlements
This annual award consists of cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and citation to the awardee. The award ceremony will be held in the first week of June each year (from 2027 onwards).
Shri HR Ravindranath and Smt Girija Ravindranath
Driven by a deeply ingrained family ethos of giving, Shri HR Ravindranath (D.O.B ) and Smt. Girija Ravindranath have dedicated their lives to uplifting others through quiet, impactful philanthropy. Brefore retiring, Ravindranath worked at Syndicate Bank for 25years. Married since 1982, the couple shares a profound commitment to education, healthcare, and social welfare, firmly believing in supporting those most in need.
Over the past two decades, their endeavors have spanned from providing essential sustenance to hostel students and supporting the education of speech- and hearing-impaired young girls, to contributing generously to esteemed institutions like the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, Ramakrishna Ashrama, ISKCON, and local orphanages, old-age homes, and Goshalas across Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Mantralaya.
Smt Girija is a lifelong musician who has taught Carnatic classical music free of charge for over twenty years, and has recently passed the Gamaka exam at the age of 69.
