Fellowships for BTech Students

Undergraduate Program • Ongoing

About

The Indian Institute of Science is set to redefine the future of engineering with the launch of three visionary BTech programs in Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanics and Computing. Building on the success of the BTech in Mathematics and Computing, these new disciplines are meticulously designed to tackle the next generation of global challenges, from sustainable space exploration to the development of intelligent, autonomous systems. As these programs are deeply interdisciplinary and future-ready, it is essential that the student body reflects the diverse society they aim to serve. Located in Bengaluru — one of India’s leading technology hubs — students benefit from strong industry interaction, world-class research facilities, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem that prepares them for both professional careers and advanced studies.

To ensure that the brightest minds—regardless of gender or economic background—can lead this technological revolution, there is a critical need for substantial support through fellowships and financial aid. By investing in women and students in need, we are not just funding an education; we are ensuring that the vanguard of India’s technological future is inclusive, equitable, and empowered to innovate without barriers.

Donate

ODAA plans to build a fund to provide Scholarships to Top Rankers. Your support will help IISc attract brightest minds to pursue excellence and create a transformative impact. The yearly tuition fee for a student is ~ ₹ 2 lakhs, and three slabs of support (35, 65 or 100% of tuition fees) depending on merit can be provided. Support based on certified family income may also be considered.

We plan to initiate these fellowships from AY 2026.

Establish an endowment with atleast ₹45 Lakhs ($ 50k): The interest from this corpus will be used to provide tuition fee waiver (100%) of 1 student each year. The endowment would be named after the donor in perpetuity.

Donate a minimum of ₹ 8.5 lakhs: This donation will support 1 student for the entire four-year duration of the program. This fellowship would be named after the donor.

Contribute towards a pooled student support fund. You are welcome to discuss with ODAA/IISc Foundation to pool funds from groups/batches of alumni to support partial/ multiple students’ fellowships.

Student Testimonials

Fellowships for a few BTech Mathematics and Computing students have been supported by ITTIAM Systems, Kotak Bank (Women), Synchronoss Technologies and alumna Nirmala Pullur.

There is still a perception that boys should study more than girls in our country, and this is something that I have experienced — one of my teachers once told my mother that my brother should study more than me. Fellowships like these are great incentives to encourage women students to pursue studying in STEM fields. I think a lot of girls would want to join this course if they knew they had a chance of getting such a fellowship.

Coming from Hubli, a small town in North Karnataka, it was quite difficult preparing for JEE. Doing well in that exam feels like a big achievement and getting this fellowship feels like an acknowledgement of that achievement.

Recipient 2

The fellowship comes as a pleasant surprise that has inspired me to study well. These fellowships have also allowed me to dream of studying further. By not spending anything for my undergraduate education, I can save up that money to do an MTech.
