Since its inception in 1945, the Mechanical Engineering (ME) department at IISc has engaged in cutting-edge technological research, and our alumni have been instrumental in taking these research advances forward in industry and academia alike. As we celebrate 75 years of successful past accomplishments of our department and our alumni, we launch the ME@75 alumni fund to serve as a beacon for the future. This fund will serve as an instrument for the alumni to directly engage in future expansions through their generous contributions. Broad themes for the department’s future expansion include Mobility, Biomedical engineering, and Precision Agriculture, which are driven by the evolving needs of our country and the global scientific community at large.
ME@75 alumni fund will be directed towards taking forward the ideas emerging out of the interactions with the alumni during and following the ME@75 celebrations, revamping the infrastructure necessary to lead the Mechanical Engineering research in the country, a modern new building that can house the entire department and the labs with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities, and accolades for exceptional performers in the department. We welcome ideas, active participation and contribution from the alumni and philanthropists to re-orient and re-invent Mechanical Engineering at IISc for the future.
