About
Shraman Foundation is pleased to collaborate with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to offer scholarships to undergraduate students who are coming from impoverished socio-economic backgrounds.
Eligibility
- Only 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students of BTech (Mathematics & Computing) whose annual family income is less than Rs. 5.0 lakhs.
- Only 1st & 2nd year undergraduate students of BS Research whose family income is less than 2.50 Lakhs.
- The student must have sufficient financial need, and limited access to other scholarships or funding.
- Students with unusual circumstances must be given preference, e.g., on the verge of dropping from college if no financial support is provided, parents have borrowed or sold their belongings, or other non-traditional circumstances.
- Students must pass their grades / subjects – no backlogs in previous semester.
Entitlements

The scholarship amount would be a maximum of Rs 35,000/- per semester (70,000/- per annum) (amounts awarded each semester may vary based on actual financial needs of individual students) for BTech (Mathematics & Computing).

The scholarship amount would be a maximum of Rs. 25,000/- per semester (50,000 per annum) (amounts awarded each semester may vary based on actual financial needs of individual students) for BS Research.
Application Details
Process:
- All eligible new applications would be reviewed by Shraman Foundation, which includes phone call with the applicant and socio-economic scoring is done. If required, the 2nd review would also be done at a higher level.
- Shraman Foundation and the Institute will together review the students shortlisted and will then be approved by Shraman Foundation.
- The Institute will then disburse the Scholarship funds to students in their bank account.
- Scholarship funds can only be allowed to utilize for Tuition fee, Hostel & Mess, and other institutional Expenses.
- Shraman Scholarship is always prospective, – not as a reimbursement for past expenses.
Termination of Fellowship:
IISc reserves the right to terminate a student’s fellowship in any of the following cases:
- The student is found to be ineligible to receive the fellowship, at any point of time during the entire duration of the fellowship.
- It is found that the student furnished false or misleading information in the application or during the reviews.
- Adverse report on the student is received from the institution.
- The student has indulged in misconduct, misbehaviour, or corrupt practices.
- The student has violated any of the terms and conditions of the fellowship.
- The student has been found to have indulged in plagiarism or unethical practices.
Termination or cancellation of a fellowship will be done only after giving the student a fair opportunity to present their case.
- Shraman Foundation reserves the right to adjust or deny the Scholarship to any student anytime based on their socio-economic situation in due course, means availability of Paid Internships, Placements and backlogs etc.
- Shraman Foundation reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of Scholarships and amount based on the actual applications and due assessment.
