Prof. Pandurangan Medal

Prof. C. Pandurangan Gold Medal for the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. programme in Mathematical Sciences (IMI), has been instituted by students, interns, friends and family members of Prof C. Pandurangan”.

About Prof. C. Pandurangan:

Prof. C. Pandurangan obtained his master’s degree in Mathematics from Madras University (1977) and Ph.D. from IISc in Applied Mathematics (1984). He joined as a faculty of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in June 1982. He joined the rank of Professors in 1995. Prof. Pandurangan served as the Head of the Department during 1998-2001 and served as a member of the founding team for IIT, Hyderabad. He has also served as inaugural Head of the Department from 2008 till 2011 at IIT, Hyderabad, CSE Department.

Prof. Pandurangan was involved in upgrading the unit of ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) to a centre and served as Centre Head, ISI, Chennai in 2012-2013. He is a FELLOW of INAE from 2006. Prof. Pandurangan was honoured as Institute Chair Professor at IIT, Madras from 2018.

He was Venky Harinarayanan Anand Rajaraman Institute Chair Professor at IIT, Madras till the date of retirement. He retired from the services of IIT, Madras on June 30th, 2021. Currently, Prof. Pandurangan has been appointed as the (From Aug. 2021) Sathish Dhawan Visiting Chair Professor at IISc, Bangalore.
