Auditorium at CSA Department

CSA Completed

About

CSA department unveiled its recently completed new auditorium. This 114-seater auditorium was made possible via generous donations in the form of CSR grants from Ittiam Systems and Integra Micro Systems, and the family of late Professor SV Rangaswamy of CSA. This auditorium is located in the ground floor of CSA in room 104/105, which is the erstwhile Digital Systems Lab (where Wipro’s first foray into the computer industry was incubated).

The new auditorium at the Department of CSA will foster collaboration through academic seminars and industry talks, enhancing knowledge exchange. Additionally, it will provide a space for student presentations and cultural events, enriching the department’s vibrant community.

Early donors for this project include Ittiam Systems and Professor SV Rangaswamy & Family. The project is actively supported through the CSA Golden Jubilee Development Fund (1982-83), initiated by Master’s students who joined CSA in 1982-83.

About CSA Department

CSA (Computer Science and Automation) at the Indian Institute of Science has its seeds in the erstwhile School of Automation set up in 1969. While at inception it was primarily focused on automatic control, the ambit expanded in the 1980s to include computation and communication, leading to the current name.

CSA focuses on creative research in three broad areas of computer science: Theoretical Computer Science, Computer Systems and Software, and Intelligent Systems. These research activities find expression through publications in premier international journals and conferences, and through the development of open-source software prototypes and tools. CSA is also involved in numerous scientific initiatives at the institute, state, national and international levels, including sponsored research projects, industrial consultancy, government programs, journal editorship, workshops, symposia and conferences.
