The Prem Prakash and Raj Mittal Memorial Endowed Fellowship for M.Tech (Aerospace Engineering) students has been endowed by IISc alumnus Dr. Pradeep Raj (and his wife Mary J. Raj) to honour the memory of his parents Prem Prakash Mittal and Raj Mittal. 

The fellowship will be awarded to the top GATE ranker who joins the M.Tech (Aerospace Engineering) program of IISc. 

The Fellowships will be announced on September 10 every year, starting from 2023 which will mark the 100th birth anniversary of Mr Prem Prakash Mittal.

 

About Prem Prakash Mittal and Raj Mittal

Prem Prakash Mittal (1923 – 1972), practiced law in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, while Raj Mittal (1926 – 2018), served as a Sanskrit teacher in a Higher Secondary school. They instilled the love and importance of education in Pradeep and were a constant source of support and inspiration for him to strive for academic excellence.

 

About Dr Pradeep Raj

Dr Pradeep Raj received a B.E. (with Distinction) degree in Electrical Technology in 1970, and a M.E. (with Distinction) in Aeronautical Engineering in 1972, both from IISc, Bangalore. He then continued his education in the USA and received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1976.

He currently serves as a Collegiate Professor at the Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering of Virginia Tech, USA.  He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS).
