Inviting nominations for Dr. Srinivasan Rajagopalan Award for the year 2019

Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association solicits nomination for the third Dr. Srinivasan Rajagopalan Award for the year 2019, instituted by the family of Dr. Rajagopalan. Dr. S. Rajagopalan was a Research Scholar (1938-41) and then a Fellow(1952) of IISc. The family contributed a lumpsum amount to IIScAA and requested to institute this award once in two years to a young applied scientist.
The biennial award for 2019 to a scientist carries a Cash prize (may be, upto Rupees One Lakh) and a Citation.
The award function is tentatively scheduled to be held in IISc, Bangalore, during April 2021 and the exact date will be intimated to the awardee well in advance. The awardee is required to receive the award in person and deliver a technical talk during the award function highlighting his/her significant contributions.
A committee presided by the President of IIScAA and consisting of distinguished scientists will scrutinize the applications and select the awardee.
The criteria for selection are as follows:
- Age: This award is for scientists below the age of 40 years. Thus, persons born on or after April 15, 1979 are only eligible for it.
- The awardee should be an individual who has contributed significantly to area of Applied Sciences. The work performed in India and over the last five years will be given weightage.
- Nomination should be made by an individual who is well acquainted with the Nominee’s research or Self-nomination.
